Welcome to the Balblair website. It allows you to access all Balblair services from a single point on the Internet and aims to deliver information in plain English. Businesses and members of the public have helped shape the look and feel of the site. It has been designed to be as easy to use as possible. If you have any feedback, you are welcome to email comments to webadmin@balblair.com.
Balblair is committed to making its services accessible to everyone, including those with additional support needs. If you use a screen reader, or some other device to help you view the Internet this site should be accessible to you. In addition, to help the partially-sighted or those with reading difficulties, the facility ‘Listen to This Page’ is available on many pages. This does not require the installation of specialist software. Most of the site conforms to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). There are plans to fix the few remaining issues that prevent this website from reaching WCAG Level AA. Some web browsers offer an alternative way to the mouse in following navigation links by using keyboard access keys. To use an access key hold down the Alt key and press the appropriate character as detailed below. Then press Return to go to the desired page.
Of course, nobody’s perfect and there may be cases where the author of an individual page has inadvertently included content that causes a problem for some users. The site is checked constantly to make it as usable as possible. However, if you spot a glitch, please contact webadmin@balblair.com and any problems will be fixed as soon as possible.
Balblair is committed to open standards, such as those created by the World Wide Web Consortium. These standards help make the Web work more reliably for everyone, and are widely supported by governments around the world and by the Internet industry itself. The Balblair website was designed from the start with older browsers in mind. It has been tested with older versions of Netscape and Internet Explorer. The site also displays well on up to date alternative browsers such as Opera and Mozilla. Older browsers with poor support for open standards can still access the contents of this website although we cannot guarantee how the pages will be displayed to the user.
